Back in 2008 the Big Box Storage Company had the ambition to significantly grow their self-storage business. Supported by the JLL team at every step, by 2016 the original 6 self-storage units had been successfully expanded to 15 by selective M&A and development. With rising interest in alternative real estate investments, the time was assessed as right for our client to sell and capitalise on their investment in a sector that was little known or understood when they started out.
As leaders in alternative real estate sectors we had the expertise, insights and global connections to allow us to effectively position the sale and target potential buyers. We identified US firm Storage Mart who was interested in establishing a new self-storage centre platform in the UK.
Offering a unique integrated team approach across sales, corporate finance, valuations and debt advisory was critical to the smooth delivery of this transaction.
It enabled the purchaser to find competitive acquisition financing and ensured the deal was delivered to everyone’s satisfaction. The end result delivered on the ambitions of both our client Big Box and also the buyer Storage Mart. We are now supporting the new owners as they continue to expand the portfolio.
